Working with experienced gaffers, Modest was able to recommend batteries for an upcoming feature that would provide not just best-in-class performance, but also had data monitoring capabilities. When the multi-location job was done, Modest was able to compile weekly CO2 and kWh performance reports from multiple battery systems and deliver that to Netflix sustainability in a comprehensible way.
For a chase scene for an upcoming tentpole feature, DIT vans are usually equipped with technically complex batteries to allow for continuous rendering and cloud asset management. Modest was able to recommend battery systems that would solve the technical problem, but also deliver custom “field receipts” of kWh usage, as well as data on CO2, NoX, and DPM avoided.
Sandwich, the innovative commercial production company for the tech elite, worked with Modest to provide guidance on battery systems but also reporting on emissions avoidance that they could send back to their publicly-traded clients.
CicLAvia, the long-standing non-profit, holds street fairs and festivals to promote car reduction in Los Angeles. Ironically, those have all been powered by diesel generators. Modest was able to partner with a clean energy vendor to do a feasibility analysis of making their entire event generator-free by analyzing the total power draw of the event.
